Ministries
Ministry of Hospitality: These parishioners visit
new parish families, and serve as initial contacts for questions
and concerns. They also plan celebrations which give the entire
parish an opportunity to welcome the newcomers.
Parish
Photographer: Many events take place here at Sacred
Heart that need to be recorded on film, so that just like any
family, our parish family can share the story with those who
come after us. Our family of Origins is important to who we
are as a community. Right now we are looking for 3 people who
can share this ministry. They would be assigned events by the
Parish News Coordinator, and are responsible to the Evangelization
team.
Ushers/Greeters: These parishioners welcome people
into the church and assist in maintaining the orderly movement
and seating of the assembly before and during the liturgies.
They also collect the weekly offering, take attendance and select
the parishioners who will bring the gifts forward to the altar
at the offertory.
Events
Mom-To-Mom:
Each Wednesday morning, mothers from the Hopedale area gather
with their young children in our Parish Center. They find mutual
support for themselves and a sharing and playtime for their
youngsters. This is a non-sectarian group and all are welcome.
Senior
Dinner: The parish hosts a traditional turkey dinner
for 150 senior citizens of our Hopedale community. A team is
responsible for planning and cooking the dinner. Parishioners
are asked to volunteer as pie bakers and servers for this event.
Christmas
Fair/Fall Festival: The entire parish family is encouraged
to contribute their time and talent to the success of this annual
fund-raising event which includes activities such as crafts
fairs, bake sales, children's activities, and raffles.
Chicken
Barbecue: Each fall, the men of the parish prepare barbecued
chicken dinners for parishioners who join together for an afternoon
of fun and relaxation.
Spring
Yard Sale: Each year, parishioners are asked to donate
their unwanted "treasures" for this event. Volunteers
are needed in the weeks preceding the sale, as well as on the
day of it. Proceeds go to help support the parish and its programs.
Social
Sunday: A gathering of parishioners after the 8:30 and
10:30 masses for coffee and donuts held on a quarterly basis
the second Sunday of the month.
